Cava Avinyó Rosado Brut NV

The Avinyó brand is produced by the Esteve Nadal family of Avinyonet del Penedès. The winery is located at their home "Can Fontanals" in the heart of the Penedès region of Barcelona.
The patriarch, Joan Esteve, planted vines of Parellada, Xarel-lo and Macabeo 50 years ago so that he could have sparkling wine for himself and his friends. Today, his two sons and daughter carry on the tradition of Avinyó. Plantings of Pinot Noir and Petit Grain Muscat have been introduced to add to earlier Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon additions.
On the label, there is an inscription in Catalan representing the philosophy of the family. The inscription roughly translates into the following: "From the must of the flower (the free run juice) and with the rigor of a work well crafted."

Tasting Notes -Bright red fruits combine with toast notes. On the palate the wine is fresh and vibrant with light spicy elements.

Wine Maker Notes -All fruit for the Cava was harvest under optimal conditions. 100% free run juice. 100% Pinot Noir

Penedès is a large viticultural region (DO) with wide-ranging climactic differences. It is home to the Cava Denomination of Origin where 90% of the wines designated “cava” originate.Cava - Cava came about as a designation when the European Union enforced a law that only sparkling wine from France could be called Champagne. Cava (meaning cellar) became the name for a Method-Champenoise product originating in Spain. Cava must go through secondary fermentation in the bottle and must be aged a minimum of six months on the lees before being disgorged and sold to the public. In addition to the three above-mentioned grapes, some foreign grapes have been approved including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
