The Four Graces 2003 Pinot Noir

Willamette Valley

The 2003 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is soft, silky and readily approachable. The aroma profile exhibits hints of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry. The mouth feel is lush and inviting, with ripe red berry and black cherry flavors. Exhibiting bright fruit, great viscosity and finely integrated tannins, this wine is ready to drink or may be cellared for future enjoyment.

Our Estate Pinot Noir was hand picked over a period of three weeks with conditions that were abnormally hot. Upon hand picking the grapes were immediately transported to the state of the art winemaking facility, NW Wine Company. The temperature controlled winery enabled the fruit to be processed under perfect conditions. All grapes were chilled to 50 degrees and then hand sorted into a revolutionary new destemming machine called the Euroselect, which utilizes "fingers" rather than a basket. The 100% destemmed fruit underwent primary fermentation utilizing Turbo Pigeage, a new technology that allows us to replicate the traditional pigeage in larger 12.5 and 25-ton fermenters. The wine underwent daily punch downs for 30 days, a practice known to promote softer tannins in the wine. 70% of the wine was then gravity fed into one-year-old barrels where it underwent 100% malolactic fermentation and was aged for ten months. The remaining 30% underwent maloactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, retaining the fruit's freshness and elegance until blending. The wine was bottled unfiltered and unfined.
